Haven't posted much in the way of painting. So here is a study. My plan this summer is to complete (or begin) a large scale narrative oil painting in the manner of some of the Soviet Socialists, Russian impressionists or old illustrators like Harvey Dunn and Cornwell. Those paintings demand attention and the scale allows you to really get in there and slap the paint around. I love to see the paint be the paint. It becomes it's own living, breathing entity, that when viewed in person turns the painting from a nice picture into this monsterous symphony of color and movement!

This painting is 18x14, the head is just under half scale (4 inches tall) of an average human head. So if I was to do a full narrative setting the figures would be about 3 ft tall on the canvas. So you can imagine how large the canvas will be! Whew! If I can pull it off it will be extremely satisfying and fullfilling.
