Watching

At some point in your artistic journey you begin to develop the inability to look at life the way you used to. Everything becomes apart of your canvas or sketchbook. Slowly and at once, the things around you in everyday life take on a greater significance. The way that lady walked or the sunset exposing the edge of the building tops with an orange glow and that peculiar old mans face sitting across from you on the bus or in the bookstore. Sometimes that thing is so fleeting that you kick yourself for not being ready with pencil or paint to record the amazing moment. Here's to being inspired by the world around us.

great stuff grant, been loving the direction your sketches have taken of late. The warm tones are a nice touch.

whatever, mr. philosopher. You're just very warmed up because youve been keeping busy.
And it shows.

I totally feel ya there Grant. It's such torture when you find something so visually, emotionally, and/or story-tellingly stunning, yet you have nothing to record it with except your memory.

Here's to getting into the habit of carrying around sketchbooks!
