Life is funny that way

It amazes me how a person can go from a real low to a high in a matter of minutes, hours, days. How from one moment to the next, life can reveal something to you that you were previously blind to. Many times it can bite you in the ass.

Well.... it did me.

I had a bit of an honest look at myself when I least expected it. IT STUNG! It was pretty uncomfortable to say the least.
I finally recognized something that's been a hinderance to my growth for awhile. But it's for the better and I think I'm gonna be a better person because of it. It's even impacting my immediate artistic goals.

If you are sensitive to it, life and the people around you, will give you valuable feedback in a quiet, indirect way.

Life Drawing

If you found this post before 8am this morning you would have read something much different, but I decided it was just a bunch of "sad bastard music" so I nixed it. Let's just say I've been a bit overwhelmed by the amount of talent out there in the face of my own weaknesses and struggles to get to a place artistically that I'm more satisfied with.

Saturday out and about

Had a great time hanging out with Nick today. I went down to his neck of the woods. We sketched, but mostly talked. Alot of talking actually. I froze up a bit, but finally did a quick painting. It was much quicker than usual, but I think it was a good excercise for me to loosen up and try and capture something without my usual fuss and muss. Anyway, the painting is acrylic at Ritual and the sketch I did afterward.

Crazy Night Out

So we tried to go bowling tonight, but it was full until late so we moved on. Then all of a sudden BAM!! Emy falls and hurts her arm. She thought it was broken. Bobby and Michelle ran to the car. Luckily no bones were protruding from her skin so we all went out for milk shakes. I started charicaturing Michelle and Bobby as they enjoyed their sandwich and then I wanted to capture Mia eating her fries. It's funny cause' the gesture I chose reminds me of a grown women with a cigarette, so it's funny, ya know a toddler with a french fry. I can imagine the conversation now " ...So...You'll never believe what Sally told Billy on the playground yesterday... I almost died...."

Afterward I took Emy to the ER for a check-up. Phew! I think she'll be ok.

The drawing was done with red crayon on the diner placemat.
