Head Study

Here is a head study from last semester. I think it's really important to let the paint be the paint and the brush stroke be the brush stroke. What I mean by that is, a painting is not just interesting because of color, composition or execution, I believe when the surface is alive with juicy paint it really comes alive. Don't spend time noodling or smoothing things over, just put down the right color, value, temperature and edge. Make a statement and leave it! I love paintings that look like paintings.

Painting like this is not so easy... Even as a Study. Very nice.

Great artwork, man. Love the expressive quality of your painting. And I hear you, let the paint be paint, I dig paintings with juicy brush strokes.
Keep the updates coming!
